Help Lewis, the Homewood Suites Duck, Raise Money for Special Olympics

The Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago and Lewis the duck ( Homewood Suites Mascot) have teamed up for the 6th annual  Windy City Rubber Duck Derby to help raise money for the Special Olympic of Illinois.

Come to the front desk to purchase 1 duck for a donation of $5 to race down the Chicago River.  With a $5 donation, you will also receive your very own Lewis the duck to take home.

On August 11th at 1pm on   Drive Bridge, come watch over 30,000 rubber ducks being dumped into the Chicago River.  The Homewood Suites mascot, Lewis the duck, will be there for picture opportunities and to cheer on his friends!

Ducks will be randomly labeled with a number code.  The top ducks to float down the river can win fabulous prizes including a Costa Rica vacation, cash, shopping spree, home entertainment systems and much more.

“Suite Sights City Pass Package”.

Summer in downtown Chicago can be hectic.  Its the time of year when the snow finally melts,  flocks of families visit Chicago to vacation and the locals come out of their hibernation.

Hate Baggage Fees?

So do we! Here is one way to lower your cost of airline baggage fees for frequent travelers – United Airlines recently launched a new service called Premier Baggage that allows a flyer to pay $249 and waives baggage fees for a full year when you travel. With Premier Baggage, you and up to eight companions can check up to two standard bags each without fees every time you travel in the United States or internationally on United® or United Express® operated flights during the year. Now lets do a quick calculation of a family of four going on a two week vacation with each person having two bags. The baggage fees for each person would be about $50 each way or $400 for one trip alone. A business traveler who takes one bag will pay $25 each way in baggage fees so that roundtrip costs $50 in fees. If you fly more than 5 times a year on United this might be a service that could have benefits.

Annual Air and Water Show

Planes flew high about the city skyline

This past weekend featured the 52nd Annual Chicago Air and Water Show.  It is considered the largest free show of it’s kind, and kicked off with it’s traditional celebrity skydive; this time featuring  Chicago native Vince Vaughn.  Both the U.S Army and U.S Navy brought in some of their largest and fastest aircrafts currently in operation for all of Chicago to marvel at.  The Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown guests had an opportunity to view the air and water show from the top floor swimming pool as well.
